Professor Bilesanmi-Awoderu joined Ogun State University (OSU) now Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye in 1990 as a Graduate Assistant and rose through the ladder to become a Professor of Science Education in 2007 through a dint of hard work. At OOU, she taught various courses both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in the area of Curriculum Studies and Science Education. Her academic excellence could be attested to by over 60 publications to her credit featuring in reputable National and International Journals and other outlets. She has attended and participated fully in several Local, National and International Seminars, Workshops and Conferences. Professor Bilesanmi–Awoderu has also supervised many students both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels (PGDE, M-Ed & Ph.D).
Prior to her appointment as the Rector, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo in July 2014, she was the Dean, Faculty of Education, Olabisi Onabanjo University, (2012 – 2014). She has also served the University in various capacities which included Head, Department of Curriculum Studies and Instructional Technology, Deputy Director, Center for Sandwich Programmes and Chairperson of many Universities/Faculty/Departmental Committees.
She has served as the External Examiner and Doctoral Assessor for Ph.D Oral defence in Universities such as Ibadan, Ado-Ekiti etc. She was at a time a Visiting Professor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She has served as member of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Programme Accreditation Team to many Higher Institutions. Internationally, she was an External Examiner and Doctoral Assessor of the University of the West Indies, Cave-Hill Campus, Barbados.
Professor Bilesanmi-Awoderu has many awards and distinctions to her credit and these include; D.B. Oguntuga Memorial Scholarship, which she won as the best all-round student in the penultimate year of Education/Biology in Ogun State University (1989), Departmental Prize Award by Senate which she won as the best final year student in the Department of Curriculum Studies and Instructional Technology in Ogun State University (1990), College/Faculty Prize Award by Senate which she also won as the best final year student in the Faculty of Education in Ogun State University (1990) and Award of Outstanding Paper Presentation given to her by the International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists (ICWES 13 Travel Award) at the 13th International Conference in Seoul, South Korea in 2005.
She is a member of many Professional bodies such as Gender and Science and Technology (GASAT) Association, National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) etc. Our amiable Rector has travelled far and wide. She is happily married with children.
